There’s lots of advice out there for job seekers who are looking for work, but it can feel overwhelming. At Penmac, it’s our job to simplify this process for you. Read below for ten steps that can help you find a position that’s right for you.


  1. Decide what kind of job you want. The first step to the job search process is to figure out what exactly you are looking for. Think about what you’re interested in and what sorts of industries that would best match your qualifications.


  1. Choose where you’d like to work. Once you’ve decided what field you’d like to work in, look at different companies that might be a good fit. If you’re having trouble choosing, a temp agency can be a great starting point. Temp agencies give you the opportunity to try out many different positions, and can help you get your foot in the door at a great company.


  1. Build your experience. If you’re interested in a position you don’t know much about, see if any of your local schools offer any training or certification courses. Volunteering is also a great way to gain new skills. Many businesses will also offer on-the-job training.
